Padaviya farmers benefit

The government has decided to supply water to the Padaviya Wewa in 2013.

For 50 years, thousands of Padaviya farmers have been suffering from lack of water during Yala season. At the request of Agrarian Services and Wildlife Minister SM Chandrasena, President Mahinda Rajapaksa agreed to commence the project.

The government has drawn up plans to provide water through the Yan Oya to the Padaviya Wewa and to the farmers through the Wahalkada Wewa under the project.

The government expects economic prosperity to dawn on the Padaviya and Wahalkada farmers after the implementation of the project.
