Shehan champion rider for second successive year at Walawa Super

Shehan C Adikari retained his tittle of being the champion rider at
the craftsman autodrome track in Sevanagala for the second successive
year.
He was the champion rider at the innaugural Walawe Super Cross held
last year.

It was unfortunate that Gayan Sandaruwan who was determined to
dethrone Shehan was injured due to a fall.
Shehan was gifted with a Hero Honda CD deluxe motorcycle for his
excellent performance by Stafford Motors.
There was plenty of excitement with thrills and spills at the Walawa
Super Cross 2012.
The large number of spectators were entertained by the skills and
control of the drivers and riders when late morning rain changed the
condition of the track completely.
Ashan Silva , Pasindu Pieris, Upulwan Serasingha and Brigadier Ravi
Mayadunne entertained the crowd with skillfull driving but it was Lt Col
Duminda Jayasingha who won the hearts of every one for his grit in
winning event number 18 for Diesel Turbo trucks and jeeps upto 5500cc a
six lap event.
He drove his 2400cc Land Rover Defender for three laps after the tyre
on his left front wheel was punctured and eventualy was torn to shreds
ending the race on the rim.
The Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Corps of the Sri Lanka Army
organized the Walawe Super Cross 2012 in association with the Sri Lanka
Army motor sports committee and the Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club.
A sum of Rs One Million from the profits of Walawa Super Cross 2012
was handed over to chief guest Leiutanant General Jagath Jayasuriya
Commander of the Sri Lanka Army for the BRAVEHEARTS project by Major
General Lalith Wijethunga Deputy Chief of Staff and Colonel Commandant
of the Sri Lanka Electrical & Mechanical Engineers.
