Isipatana trounce Thurstan

Isipatana College Colombo trounced Thurstan College Colombo in their annual tugby big match for Abdul Jabbar Memorial Trophy by 98 points (nine goals, seven tries) to nil at Longden Place yesterday.

Sithum Chathusanka opened the account for the Isipatana College with a try few minutes after the kick off. Uditha Premathillake also supported the side with a try converted by Kavindu de Costa. Ushan Charuka and Sudam Suriyaarachchi scored a try each while Hirantha Perera added extra points by converting the tries scored by Sithum and Ushan. Kavindu de Costa and Number Eight Arun Kumar also added points with tries while both were converted by Hirantha. The scores read 40 - 0 at lemons.

Thurstan ruggertites failed to pose a threat towards their counterparts, and were unable to score a single point due to their poor gaming strategies.

In the second half, Isipatana side seemed to be more powerful by demoralizing their rivals with their fierce tackling, speedy playback and thorough defence. Ushan Charuka crossed the line in three occassions. Hirantha Perera (one), Arun Kumar (one), Uditha Prematillake (one), Kavindu de Costa (one), Shenal Deelaka (one), Sithum Chathusanka (one) and S.M.Dias (one) were the others to score tries. Kavindu de Costa added extra points by converting the try scored by Ushan Charuka while Hirantha converted the tries scored by Ushan Charuka, Uditha Prematillake and himself, paving their way to a massive victory.
