UPFA confident of victory - Gen Secy
Minister
Premajayantha |
The UPFA is contesting the election to the three dissolved Provincial
Councils with the full confidence of gaining victory because the UPFA
government has brought about unprecedent development in the three
Council areas during the past over four years, said UPFA General
Secretary and Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premajayantha in a
statement yesterday.
The statement added that the UPFA would launch its election campaign
once the election dates for the three dissolved councils was notified by
the Commissioner General of Elections. The UPFA has already held initial
discussions with its affiliated parties regarding the forthcoming
provincial council elections. Party Reorganization Campaigns were
completed in every electorate belonging to these three provincial
council areas through the UPFA organisers. A great service in the sphere
of development was rendered in these three provinces by the government
led by the President and by the provincial councils themselves.
Therefore, the UPFA is ready with all the preparations to contest the
elections to the three provincial councils - North Central, Eastern and
Sabaragamuwa in a fearless and confident manner. Except for holding
elections before schedule the UPFA government had never postponed
elections. By holding the elections to the three councils before
schedule the government has ensured the democratic rights and freedoms
to opposition political parties and the people.
