Issues pertaining to the Advanced Level examination in 2011 and the
calculation of Z scores would be solved as soon as the judicial process
has been completed, Mass Media and Information Minister Keheliya
Rambukwella said.
Addressing the weekly Cabinet pressbriefing at the ministry
yesterday, the minister said the government is taking every possible
step to get the best solution for the public and the children.
He noted that the government is discussing this matter at length and
a final and firm decision with regard to these issues would be arrived
as soon as the ruling of the Supreme Court was announced on the
clarification asked by the University Grants Commission.
The minister said if any student had faced an injustice following
these issues it must be corrected. He stated the government is very much
concerned over this matter, adding that it is a matter related to the
education and future generation of the country. "I will not shirk the
responsibility on behalf of the government with regard to this matter.
Education is the backbone of the country. We must wind up this matter as
soon as possible," he said.
He also noted that the Legislature, Judiciary, Executive and the
government according to the constitution must work with an
understanding, adding that the government is now on this track. |
