Expedite construction of N' Eliya airport - President
President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday directed officials to expedite
the construction of the domestic airport in Nuwara Eliya by identifying
a suitable location for it.

The President issued this directive at a conference at Temple Trees
regarding the proposed Nuwara Eliya domestic airport.
The President said the local tourist industry will gain a major boost
if a domestic airport is built in Nuwara Eliya which is a major tourist
attraction. Therefore work on this project should be launched before the
end of this year, he emphasised.
The progress of work on the Mattala Airport was also discussed at
this conference.
Ministers Keheliya Rambukwella, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana and
Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa,
Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake, Secretary to the
President Lalith Weeratunge and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa
also attended the conference. |
