SEC honoured with international award

Sri Lanka State Engineering Corporation (SEC) has won the International Star for Leadership in Quality award at the international quality convention- 16th International Star for Leadership in Quality, held in Paris on June 25 with the participation of 74 countries, a Construction, Engineering Service, Housing and Common Amenities Ministry official said.

International Star for Leadership in Quality Award is awarded by the Business Initiative Direction (BID).

"According to BID, the award is offered for well established institutes and SEC was awarded due to the proper management procedure and the high quality of constructions. Apart from these new inventions, customer service, ISO 9001:2008 quality certification are also considered," said the official.

He added that BID also payed attention for the high income of SEC when they selected it. SEC is the first institution in the construction sector which obtained ISO 9001:2009 quality certification.

"BID was established with the concept of 100 Quality Certifications and its headquarters is in Spain. Institutions were selected by a special committee which was appointed by BID based on elections and census," he said.
