ETF funds for Grade Five Scholarship students

Employees Trust Fund chairman K M A Godawatta on Tuesday handed over the Fund's endowment to 500 Grade Five Scholarship students for 2011, a cheque for Rs 75 million, to President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees.

The scholarships are provided for those who have received the highest marks in their respective districts. The scheme was a concept of the President introduced in 1994. Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena, Treasury Secretary Dr. P B Jayasundara, Finance and Planning Deputy Ministry Geethanjana Gunawardena, People's Bank chairman W Karunajeewa and Employees Trust Fund officials were present on this occasion.
