No Confidence Motion against Provincial Minister defeated

A No Confidence Motion tabled against the Agriculture, Agricultural Production and Marketing, Animal Production and Health Minister of the North Central Provincial Council K H Nandasena by the UNP group in the Council was defeated by a majority of 8 votes at a Council meeting held on June 26.

The UNP group had tabled the No Confidence Motion alleging failure on the part of the Provincial Minister to complete construction work on the proposed Economic Centre at Kebetigollewa for which land was acquired on 06-09-2005 under the 10 year development plan. NCP Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake said the UNP which feared to face another Provincial Council election was making wild accusations to sling mind against the UPFA administration.

Provincial Minister K H Nandasena said he is prepared to resign from his post and give up politics altogether if any allegations of corruption and financial misappropriation made against him were proved.
