Move to develop Matara townships

The government has taken measures to develop towns in the Matara district.

Local administrative authorities said the towns are to be developed at the Pradeshiya Sabha level. Thihagoda, Kamburupitiya, Akuressa, Malimbada, Mulatiyana, Kotapola, Kirinda-Puhulwella, Pitabeddara, Pasgoda and Hakmana are included in the programme.

Development activities include construction and reconstruction of public bus stands, public latrine complexes, weekly fairs, lanes, by-lanes and pavement, play grounds and parks.

Rs 50 million will be spent for each town under the Pura Neguma programme.
