Ban on paddy exports until next Maha

The government has banned the exporting of paddy and rice until the next Maha season produce is harvested, to ensure the country would have adequate rice stocks at affordable prices for consumption till then.

The Import and Export Controller banned exportation of rice and paddy on the direction of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Information and Public Relations Director M G Jayathissa of the Ministry of Finance and Planning said.
