Sri Lanka is faced with an unparalleled growth for prosperity and the
future leaders must have the right focus to get the benefit of emerging
opportunities. Acting Chairman and Managing Director Hatton National
Bank Rajendra Thiyagaraja said at the CEO Forum titled “Entering the
Corporate Arena “ at Hilton Hotel Colombo yesterday.
He was addressing university students from the different parts of the
country at the event organized by the American Chamber of Commerce for
the third concurrent year for the benefit of university students.
Thyagaraja said that there is a spirit of entrepreneurship in all of
them and they need to adopt themselves to the cultures of the
organizations and improve communication skills which is very important.
Etisalat CEO Duminda Rathnayake said today’s challenge is to build right
attitude and willingness to work with passion to achieve the best. “Your
job is to facilitate the employees and it is necessary to understand the
difficulties of those people to do it right, so be passionate on what
you do,” he said.
Group Chief People Officer Brandix , Ishan Danthanarayana said there
is a search for future leaders today and university students should stay
competitive enhancing skills as the war is for talents. He said life
long training is a must as there is no relevance in what was learnt many
years ago today.
