School Heads urged to get NIC for students

School Heads should take steps to get NICs for all students who have
reached 16 years of age, Kurunegala District Deputy Education Director A
Dissanayake said, addressing principals of the Kurunegala District at
the Bingiriya Youth Training Centre recently.
Students who reach 16 years by October 30 can apply for NICs through
their school heads, he said.
Commissioner General of Registration of Persons Department Jagath
Wijeweera has instructed Provincial Directors of Education to instruct
school Heads to send in application forms of students for NICs soon to
prevent delays and rush at the last moment.
“It is the duty and responsibility of school Heads to get NICs for
students in advance to enable them to face national examinations without
any obstacle.
“Additional staff members have been deployed by the Department of
Registration of Persons to assist school students in obtaining NICs,
Dissanayake said.
