School Heads urged to get NIC for students

School Heads should take steps to get NICs for all students who have reached 16 years of age, Kurunegala District Deputy Education Director A Dissanayake said, addressing principals of the Kurunegala District at the Bingiriya Youth Training Centre recently.

Students who reach 16 years by October 30 can apply for NICs through their school heads, he said.

Commissioner General of Registration of Persons Department Jagath Wijeweera has instructed Provincial Directors of Education to instruct school Heads to send in application forms of students for NICs soon to prevent delays and rush at the last moment.

“It is the duty and responsibility of school Heads to get NICs for students in advance to enable them to face national examinations without any obstacle.

“Additional staff members have been deployed by the Department of Registration of Persons to assist school students in obtaining NICs, Dissanayake said.
