Child drowns in well

A child who was playing alone in the front garden was found drowned in a nearby well in Kattakulama area, off Thissapura, Medirigiriya.

Four-year-old Dinesh Sandika Kumarasingha of Tract One had been playing alone in the front garden of the house while his mother had been sleeping in the house due to a toothache and his father had been away for work at a rice mill.

Later, the mother came to where he had been playing, but he was not there. She looked about in the garden and found the child’s doll in the well. She found the body of the child at the bottom of the well.
