Raid on ganja plantation in Wilpattu

Karwalagaswewa Police raided a ganja plantation inside the Wilpattu forest adjoining the Neelabemma project and seized 22kgs of ganja prepared for transportation and destroyed a large number of lush ganja plants by setting fire to the plantation on June 9.

Police discovered the ganja plantation following interrogation of a motorcyclist transporting a bag containing seven and a half kilograms of ganja at a place called Pahariya.

The suspect was produced before the Puttalam magistrate yesterday.
