Discussion to research Muslim education in SL

Photographic exhibition and workshops by Dorothy Shoes

A photographic exhibition and workshops by Dorothy Shoes from France will be held from June 15 to 24 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall(BMICH), Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7, Mihilaka Medura dining area from 11 am to 7 pm. Opening ceremnoy will be held on Friday (June 15) at 6 pm on the same venue. Dorothy Shoes is a talented young French stage director turned photographer.

A storyteller at heart, she gives the impression of speaking through her images, which have been widely exhibited in Europe, North America and also in Asia. In her photographs, one will discover the dark and lonely aspects of human existence portrayed though radical poetic imagery. Dorothy Shoes will conduct a three day workshop in Colombo at BMICH from June 16 to 18 and in Jaffna at Alliance Française de Jaffna from June 21 to 23.

Stigmata and Success will take stage at BMICH

Stigmata from Sri Lanka and Success from France will take centre stage for an evening dedicated to rock music on Saturday (June 16) at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall(BMICH), Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7,Outside hall at 7.30 pm (Stigmata) and 8.30 pm (Success).

Over the past 11 years, Stigmata has not only pioneered but also established a firm foundation for rock metal music in Sri Lanka.

Led by the unpredictable Mister Eleganz, Success - a four - man team - has established itself as one of Europe's avant-grade rock bands.

Its unique brand of music - a tantalizing mix of rock 'n' roll and electro - is something hard-rock music lovers simply cannot resist.

For three years, the Success - show rolled through France and Europe leaving thousands of fans enchanted. And now it has come to Sri Lanka.

The Success - show is a must see event. Can you remain impervious to its electRaw power any longer?


Mage Sihinaya at Nelum Pokuna

Ministry of Culture & the Arts and the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka will be jointly sponsoring Mage Sihinaya (My Dream) the world renowned drama presentation spear-headed by 39 Chinese disabled artistes on June 12, 13 and 14 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa theatre in Nelum Pokuna.

This drama is presented under the distinguished patronage of the Prime Minister, D M Jayarathne, Chinese Ambassador in Sri Lanka, Wujianghao and Defense Secretary, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa on the invitation of the Cultural & the Arts Minister, T B Ekanayake.

The presentation which will be put forward by the Chinese artistes will portray key Chinese cultural series including the Bodhisatva drama.

Mage Sihinaya was exhibited in 1987 in over 150 different cities in China and in over 25 countries in the world and had hit the zenith of world acclaims.
