Govt ensures development dividends for all -Minister

Development programmes implemented by the government have spread
throughout the country without any differences. All Sri Lankans have a
right to experience the benefits of all these projects. It is the policy
of the government, Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka
said.

The minister was addressing the opening ceremonies of two electricity
projects in Trincomalee. The government had spent Rs 9.1 million on
these projects and 152 families in Trincomalee received electricity.
"There are no human rights violations in the North and East provinces
as foreign elements allege. Currently, all parts of the country are
experiencing development after three decades of war," he added.
Meanwhile, Girihanduseya was illuminated on Poson Poya day. The Power
and Energy Ministry has spent Rs 10 million on reconstruction activities
in the Hiriganduseya sacred area.
The Power and Energy Ministry has provided electricity for 3,423
families in the Trincomalee district through Negenahira Navodaya
electricity programme under the present government.
"The government has already established 31 electricity projects
spending Rs 330 million. Measures are in place to provide electricity
for the entire country by 2016," the minister added.
Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Deputy Minister Susantha
Punchinilame and Eastern Provincial Council Member Priyantha Pathirana
also participated. |
