Coastguard saves youth from drowning

Coastguards on life saving mission

An 18- year-old youth was rescued from drowning by Coastguard Life Savers on duty at Thisawewa, Anuradhapura on June 4.

A P Kumara who visited Anuradhapura with a group of pilgrims from Kithulwala, Ihalagama, Meerigama, was bathing in Thisawewa when the incident occurred. Sri Lanka Coastguard had posted life savers on duty during the Poson season.

They had noticed Kumara struggling and had rescued him. It was revealed that the victim is a patient with an epileptic history.

Coastguard Life Savers are on life saving duties in Anuradhapura until today.

This is the 20th life that Sri Lanka Coastguard saved since its establishment.
