Defence Secretary lays foundation for Anuradhapura Ranaviru Seya

Defence and Urban Development Ministry Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa
laid the foundation stone for the retaining wall for the Sala Pathala
Maluwa of the proposed Ranaviru Seya to be built at the Maha Mewuna
Uyana in Anuradhapura yesterday morning.
On a concept of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Ranaviru Seya is
being built in memory of the War Heroes who sacrificed their lives in
defence of the Motherland and liberate it from the clutches of brutal
terrorists. The construction work is handled by the Defence Ministry and
the UDA with labour contributed by the Security Forces.
Meanwhile the new Samadhi Buddha statue installed at the proposed
site of the Ranaviru Seya was also unveiled by Defence Secretary
Gotabhaya Rajapaksa amid the chanting of Seth Pirith by the Maha Sangha
yesterday morning. NCP Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake and the
Security Forces Commanders were also present on the occasion.
The six foot marble statue in Samadhi posture was gifted by the
Government of Myanmar on the initiative of Atamasthanadhipathi Ven.
Pallegama Siriniwasa Chief Sanghanayake Thera.
The Defence Secretary also planted a sapling at the premises to mark
the occasion and opened a manioc dansala organized for the benefit of
Poson pilgrims. |
