President participates in Diamond Jubilee Thanksgiving Service

President Mahinda Rajapaksa and First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa who
are in London to attend the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Queen
Elizebeth 11 yesterday participated in the Thanksgiving Service at St
Paul’s Cathedral.
A large number of invitees participated in the thanksgiving mass held
at the St. Paul’s Cathedral yesterday on the sidelines of Queen
Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
The Heads of State of 54 Commonwealth countries have already arrived
in London to attend a number of events to mark the the Queen’s Diamond
Jubilee celebrations.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Monday attended a special reception
hosted for the visiting Heads of States at Buckhingham Palace. The
President also held talks with Commonwealth General Secretary Kamalesh
Sharma and Director General Alan Collins.
President Rajapaksa will make a special address at the Commonwealth
Economic Forum organized by the Commonwealth Business Council today and
Heads of States and members of the business community are expected to
attend the economic forum. |
