Sri Lanka Navy assisted in bringing an injured fisherman ashore on
Monday.
He was rushed to the Jaffna General Hospital for further medical
attention on completion of the preliminary treatment at Kankasanthurai (KKS)

The fisherman had been among the crew of the multi-day fishing
trawler named Sagara Siri 01 which had left for fishing from the
fisheries harbour in Trincomalee on May 22. He had been injured by a
fishing hook while he was fishing onboard the trawler at deep sea East
of Trincomalee.
The Navy was informed of the incident by the Fisheries and Aquatic
Resources Department and action was taken to bring the injured fisherman
ashore for treatment in response to the request made by the boat owner.
Following the instructions sent by the Naval Headquarters, the Northern
Naval Command directed the Naval Ship Sagara for the task.
The fisherman was brought to KKS with the assistance of Naval Fast
Attack Craft P 436. He was thereafter taken to the KKS Naval Hospital
for treatment prior to his transfer to the Jaffna General Hospital. |
