Magistrate raps Govt analyst for failure to submit report

Panadura Magistrate R.S.A. Dissanayke rapped the Government Analyst
for failing to forward his report pertaining to the body organs of a
suspect who died while in the custody of the Wadduwa police on April 15,
2012.
Dahanayakage Nimal Chandrasiri Appuhamy, a 42 year fisherman of
Talpitiya Wadduwa was taken into custody by Sgt Sepala of the Wadduwa
police for the possession of two ganja cigars together with Rs. 4,000.
The suspect died in the police cell.
On the orders of the Panadura Acting Magistrate Ramani Saram AJMP Dr.
Sivasubramanium performed the autopsy on the body and discovered a
bleeding injury on the chest which according to the AJMO was a not a
fatal one.
He forwarded the specimen of the organs of the body of the deceased
to the Government Analyst for report and examination but the official
report of the Government Analyst had not been forwarded to the Panadura
magistrate for a verdict to be returned. |
