The Banquet of the Galle Face Hotel has been Colombo's most popular venue for weddings and prestigious functions for over a century. The Hotel, having been established in 1864 is the oldest purpose built Hotel in the City of Colombo.

Its banquet facility rooms have been patronized by Royalty, Heads of State, Diplomats and the Elite of Sri Lankan visiting dignitaries. From the Colonial period to date the most prestigious functions had been held at the function rooms of the Galle Face Hotel and have received accolades. The Colonial architecture and the sea front, city center location of the Hotel itself adds to the grandeur of the functions hosted in this Hotel. Hence, the Grand Ballroom which accommodates 350 in dinning and the Jubilee Room which accommodates 250 in dinning has been the most popular.

The photographic value of the ballroom with its colonial architecture is another reason for the big demand. Very few heritage hotels in the world could boast of such a magnificent ballroom.
