Prisoner who escaped during tsunami arrested after six years

A prisoner who had escaped from the Matara prison during the 2004 tsunami, was arrested on Saturday by Weligama Police.

The suspect, a resident of Panatiyana, Dolikanda, was 19 when he escaped and is now aged 26, police said.

The suspect will be produced before the Matara magistrate.
