North Western Blacks win first leg
North Western Blacks turned out to be the
surprise package in the first leg of the Carlton Super Sevens 2012
when they trounced the giant killers Southern Sharks by the huge
margin of 41 points (3 goals, 4 tries) to 7 (1 goal) in the play off
for the first and second places at the Bogambara Stadium, Kandy
before a capacity crowd yesterday.

AA Snooker Championship:
Naresh wins President’s Cup
Naresh Samarawickrama of Galle Cricket Club
clinched the Automobil Association Snooker (AA) President’s Cup
beating Ryan Somarathna of the Otter Aquatic Club in the National
level final by five frames to three (64/50, 62/39, 64/15, 16/73,
55/46, 14/61, 48/72, 60/16) at the AA pool parlor yesterday. Naresh
maintained a superb record in the tournament and entered the final
with a winning mentality after beating National champion Susantha
Boteju in a closely contested semi final by four frames to three
(17/64, 27/61, 73/5, 61/44, 52/44, 39/87, 61/56).
