Jewellery thief nabbed with loot

A person suspected of stealing jewellery worth Rs 516,000 in Aluthgama was arrested by the police in Halawata on Saturday. Two suspects wanted in this connection were arrested in Hettimulla on Friday. Police received a tip-off that the suspect had come to the rest-house in Halawata, Munneswaram and arrested him following a raid. The suspect had jewellery valued at over Rs 500,000 in his possession at the time of the arrest, Halawatha police said.

Police also seized a van and two motorcycles belonging to the suspect. The suspect and the goods were handed over to Aluthgama Police.
