Two Police teams to arrest UNP MP

Police Spokesman SP Ajith Rohana yesterday told the Daily News that two Police teams have been deployed to arrest an UNP MP on an alleged assault carried out on a businessman. He stated that the MP was absconding, adding that if anybody is harbouring him, he or she would also be dealt with under the law.

He observed that helping somebody to evade the law is also considered an offense. The MP had allegedly assaulted and bit the nose of a businessman during a brawl at a five star hotel in Kollupitiya last night. The injured person is receiving treatment at the Accident Service Unit of the Colombo National Hospital. A complaint has been lodged in this regard with the Kollupitiya Police.
