Fourth millionaire in Seylan Bank’s Thagi Pita Thagi draw
A 56-year-old teacher E.A. Dayawathie from Matugama, recently won the
top prize of Rs. 1 million at the Seylan Bank’s Thagi Pita Thagi draw
and thereby became the fourth millionaire.

“I never expected to win the top prize. And yes of course I am very
happy”, she says. With 24 years of teaching experience, Elabada
Arachchige Dayawathie, is a teacher in Political Science at the Panthiya
Maha Vidyalaya in Matugama and proudly says that even her salary cheque
goes direct to her Seylan Bank account.
A customer for the past twelve years at the Seylan Bank Matugama
Branch where she has a savings account and a fixed deposit, she says,
“My prize money will go back to the Bank as a FD. I have great trust in
the Seylan Bank and I am thankful to the Matugama Branch for its

Ever since its grand launch in October last year, Thagi Pita Thagi
has already awarded a total of 10,480 (2620 x 04 months)two winners from
all parts of Sri Lanka. These lucky customers have won an exciting array
of prizes such as monthly Rs. 1 million, motor bikes, LCD TVs,
refrigerators, home entertainment systems, sofa sets, lap tops, fully
automatic washing machines, four-burner gas cookers and gold sovereigns
every month.

Abans celebrates 15 years and still growing
Abans, the leader in Electronics and Home Appliances, made elaborate
plans to mark the 15th Anniversary of their Retail Channel with numerous
religious observances in Kandy recently.

The celebrations started at the Dalada Maligawa, where Abans had an
alms giving for 100 Buddhist monks and also a Dansala where food was
distributed to over 5000 people. Simultaneously, a special religious
programme was held at Al-Madrasathul Jamilhudah Jumma Mosque in
Mawilmada, Kandy.
The programme consisted of various events organized by the Madrasa
Children, Recitation of Duas (Supplication).
A special Roman Catholic Mass was held at St. Paul’s Church in Kandy
to invoke blessings on the Abans Group of Companies. School uniform
material, school books and stationery items were distributed to poor
orphans of Innacia Memorial Home for Children, at Halloluwa and Kandy.

Kumarika rewards winners at Nekethata Thegi awards ceremony
Kumarika hosted an awards ceremony for the grand prize winners of the
Nekathata Thegi competition recently.

The competition involved three games which incorporated elements from
Kumarika's natural product line and was designed for the Avurudu season.
The competition was conducted through facebook, where users had the
option of playing one of three games – 'Rashi Chakraya' (designed
according to the dawning of the new year, where participants had to
place zodiac signs in the correct order), 'Questions of the hearth' (in
which participants had to rapidly answer ten questions relating to
Avurudu traditions) and 'Puzzled looks' (where a jigsaw puzzle had to be
solved in record time). Winners were picked for each game according to
the highest score. Dimuthu Udattawa walked away with the grand prize for
'Rashi Chakraya', while Deshani Bandara and Gimhani Samarakoon secured
the grand prizes in 'Questions for the hearth' and 'Puzzled looks'
respectively. 15 consolation prizes were also handed over at the awards
ceremony.
