Commercial Bank customer seminar in Ratnapura
The Commercial Bank of Ceylon recently conducted a seminar on ‘The
recent economic developments and their challenges to the Sri Lankan
economy’ for the Bank’s key customers in the Uva Sabaragamuwa region.
Participants were briefed on the recent global financial problems, how
they impact corporate activities on the recent economic trends in Sri
Lanka.
The seminar was conducted by Dr. M.Z.M. Aazim, Deputy Director,
Economic Research Department of the Central Bank. Commercial Bank’s Head
of Global Markets Prins Perera, Assistant General Manager – Personal
Banking Vimal Fernando, Regional Manager Chanura Wijetillake, Branch
Managers and about 100 clients were present at this event.

People’ Bank opens small and medium business centre in Kandy

People’s Bank recently opened a small and medium scale business
centre located at Katugastota, under the patronage of Sarath Ekanayake,
the Chief Minister of the Central Province.
Launched under the budget proposal of 2012, this new centre will
strengthen small and medium scale business sectors by offering loan
facilities for agriculture based products, livestock, apparel,
fisheries, tourism, construction and many more business sectors.
People’s Bank has taken necessary steps to launch centres of this nature
covering all 24 districts islandwide with the first branch being opened
in Anuradhapura and the second in Kurunegala.
The centre is equipped with a complete library with internet access
and an auditorium facility. While, an efficient and friendly
consultation service is on offer at the business centre by specially
trained staff.
The opening ceremony was attended by public representatives of the
area, government officials and the chairman of People’s Bank W.
Karunajeewa, together with the staff, Corporate and Executive Management
of the Bank and a large number of entrepreneurs. The opening ceremony
was followed by the granting of loan facilities to entrepreneurs by the
Chief Minister.
Pan Asia Bank in Warakapola
Pan Asia Bank ceremonially opened its 70th branch in Warakapola
recently. The Chief Guest at the occasion Athauda Seneviratne Senior
Minister of Rural Affairs declared the new branch open together with the
Guests of Honour Kithsiri Wijetunga, Chairman Warakapola Town Council
and Claude Peiris, Chief Executive Officer of Pan Asia Bank. Senior
management of the bank, customers in the area, other distinguished
guests and well-wishers also graced the occasion. Warakapola branch
would be the latest addition to the branch network of Pan Asia Bank.
