Ex- domestic aide nabbed for theft

A former woman domestic aide attached to the Deputy Indian High Commissioner's residence in Kandy was arrested by the Kandy Police in connection with the robbery of cash and jewellery worth nearly Rs 200,000 from the residence while she was employed there.

Following interrogation of the suspect, the police recovered the stolen items which included among other things a gold necklace and two pairs of valuable earrings studded with diamonds and gems.

Investigations are continuing.
