Illegal gem mining location raided
The Horana Special Task Force team raided an
illegal gem miming location in Kalu Ganga at Wagawatta, Ganetanna
area of the Horana police division on Saturday and arrested 16
suspects with gem mining equipment including oxygen cylinders and
tanks, 15 buckets, three pairs of diving spectacles, iron pipes etc.
The suspects are 23 to 43 years old and are residents of Rathnapura,
Ingiriya, Wagawatta and Poruwedanda areas. The raid was carried out
by IP Thushara de Silva.

‘NCP War Heroes’ sacrifice immortal’
Nearly 4,532 War Heroes of the North Central
Province sacrificed their lives and a similar number sacrificed
their limbs, during the 30 year war, NCP Governor Karunaratne
Divulgane said at the victory celebrations at the Anuradhapura
public grounds.
