First book on Intellectual Property in Sri Lanka

Dr. Manjula Sandirigama, head of the department of computer engineering, University of Peradeniya has launched a book on Intellectual Property. “A Quick Guide for Scientists and Technologists” was published recently by the Science Education Unit of the University of Peradeniya. The book is a useful quick reference to all those who wish to get an idea on patents, patentability requirements, making local and foreign patent applications, and patent commercialization and legal implications.

The book is based on the course contents he has been teaching students on Intellectual Property for the last few years. This is the first publication of this kind in Sri Lanka, and Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya is the first to teach formal IP education for science and technology undergraduates in Sri Lanka.

Dr. Sandirigama is a qualified patent lawyer in Sri Lanka and it implies his versatility as an all-round academic in the contemporary state university system!
