When I walked in the main hall of Devi Balika Vidyalaya, my eyes
caught the busy Devians who were getting ready for their big day. The
teen beauties were looking gorgeous with their colourful costumes and
their manifestation sounded that they are about to display a mega event.
Su Rasa Dahara, the long waited mega aesthetic show of Devi Balika
Vidyalaya will be staged on May 24 at the Lotus Pond Theatre with the
presence of a lot of aesthetic and academic personalities.
The show is organized by the aesthetic unit of the school. The school
show will start at 9.30 am and the public show will be staged at 5 pm.

This show is expected to be a classic example which will convince the
audience that school students are not supposed to be mere students, but
they are quite capable of engaging in aesthetic activities through which
they could expose their inborn talents.
The pioneer of this event, the principal of Devi Balika Vidyalaya
emphasized that this has many purposes.
"Of course we are the leading girls' school of the country. But it
does not mean that our girls are just framed into studies. Obviously
they do possess many talents despite their academic stream. There are
girls who do their Advanced Level examination in science stream
possessing outstanding aesthetic capabilities. So our effort is to let
students involve in extra entertaining activities to make them all round
citizens," Principal W D P K Samarasinghe said.
She further stressed that complete citizens cannot be expected from
the prevailing education system. The reason is students are heavily
engaged in studies and they do not have time to involve in extra
activities.
"Being the principal I believe that we should set the stage to
perform their aesthetic abilities. We do give priority to studies and do
not let student do extra-curricular activities during the schooltime.
Students are supposed to wait after school and do practices," she noted.
"I highly appreciate the strong dedication of teachers to make this
endeavour a success and students bestow their maximum too. Undoubtedly
the girls enjoy this and these events sharpen their hidden talents," she
added.
Su Rasa Dahara is full of aesthetic elegance and is a combination of
eastern and western music with dancing.
Approximately 1/4 of the students of Devi will be participating in
the show in different discipline. There will be 17 items in the show. |
