Anchor celebrates 125 years with school art competition

In celebration of its 125th anniversary, Fonterra's flagship brand Anchor recently launched an art competition and are already seeing a fantastic response with more than 7,500 entries received from the 20 schools to which the contest was rolled out recently.

The competition based on the theme, 'Nothing is Impossible If You Dream Big', is open to students from grades one to five from the selected schools, spread across several provinces. This competition aims to encourage students to believe that no dream is too big, and to express their future aspirations through creative art.

"We want to nurture the achiever in every child by encouraging them to dream big and to express their ambitions through art" said Managing Director, Fonterra Brands Lanka, Achyut Kasireddy. "It is been exciting for us to see such an enthusiastic response from the schools involved," he added.

Students who enter the competition represent their schools by submitting a drawing on the theme of 'Nothing is Impossible If You Dream Big', denoting their dream career in the future.

Anchor, a brand that has nourished people all around the world with its high-quality milk, is an integral part of the daily life of many families in Sri Lanka and will support this competition along with principals and parents from the selected schools.

The judging panel will consist of Sybil Wetthasinghe, a renowned illustrator of children's books and Assistant Director of Education, Special Education School and Administration, Department of Education, Western Province, D M H Dissanayake. The winning students will be rewarded with valuable gift vouchers and their respective schools will be able to choose from three gift options that will further encourage and advance the children's education and talents.

The winning schools will be given the option of sports equipment, musical instruments and reading materials, depending on their respective interests.

"We are excited about this competition which will encourage children to explore their imagination and provide them with a platform to think and dream big. Anchor has been partnering mothers in providing children with the highest quality of dairy nutrition for many years, so it is great to have the opportunity to look towards the future and positively impact the lives of these children," said Kasireddy.
