Templeburg Industrialists’ Association holds AGM

Director, General Manager Sierra Readymix (Pvt.) Ltd, Lal Werasinghe
was unanimously elected the Homagama Templeburge Industrialists’
Association President succeeding S Senarathna at the annual general
meeting of the Templeburg Industrialists’ Association held at Waters
Edge Battaramulla recently.
A charted Mechanical Engineer by profession, Lal Werasinghe, in his
inaugural speech said that he now has a new challenge to take the
industrial zone forward and hoped to beautify the Templeburge Industrial
Estate under the green concept and requested all industrialists to join
with him to achieve these goals. Ajith Rohana (Alaka Group) was
re-elected as the Secretary and Asoka Siriwardena from Bitumix (Pvt) Ltd
as the Treasurer.
Industries and Commerce Minister Rishad Bathiudeen was the chief
guest of this event. Additional Secretary Development, Asitha
Seneviratne also participated.
Weerasinghe said the Templeburge Industrialists’ Association which
was set up about 12 years back by late Minister C.V. Gunarathne had only
14 companies in all categories providing around 2500 employment
opportunities as well as valuable production to the country at its’
inception. Later, it was extended with an additional 20 industries with
BOI approval.
This is the very first industrial estate set up in the Western
Province and the total investment now stands between Rs. 30 to 40
billion. It has state of the art machinery and equipment too.
Minister Bathiudeen appreciated the work done by all industries to
provide such a large number of employment opportunities. He said that
the government has allocated Rs. 30 million to renovate the internal
roads in the zone. |
