CSSL, OPA joint seminar
The Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL - www.cssl.lk) is organizing
many events and activities to support professionals in Sri Lanka. One
such event is a joint seminar organized with the Organization of
Professional Associations in Sri Lanka (OPA).
The CSSL was established in 1976 in Sri Lanka for the purpose of
promoting Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and
professionalism among those engaged in this field, and to maintain the
highest professional standards among the ICT fraternity.
OPA is the representative body of leading professional organizations
in Sri Lanka. The OPA is in its 34th year and is recognized as the
organization representing major professions in the country. There are 42
member associations, with a total membership of about 36000
professionals.
This joint seminar is on ‘BPO – Business Process Outsourcing – The
golden opportunity for Sri Lanka’. ‘Outsourcing’ is to contract out an
organization’s operations to a third party.
If Business Processes such as customer service (call centre)
activities, financial accounting, ICT support, data entry, data
management, administration and other organizational functions are
outsourced, then it is termed Business Process Outsourcing (BPO). This
sector is emerging as an important sector for foreign revenue generation
and youth employment creation.
The event will be held on May 4 from 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm and will be
held at the OPA auditorium on Prof. Stanley Wijesundera Mawatha,
Colombo.
Speakers are Yasas Vishuddhi Abeywickrama of the Lanka BPO Academy,
Dharshana Illamperuma of the Lanka BPO Academy and Amjad Ibrahim from
Carsons Shared Services BPO.
