SLC expects franchises for SLPL teams
Sri Lanka Cricket chairman Upali Dharmadasa said
that they are hoping to include seven franchised teams and SLC has
huge expectations on companies that would sponsor the teams at the
inaugural Sri Lanka Premier League. Dharmadasa said so at the
official press conference of the Sri Lanka Premier League held at
SLC yesterday.

Usain Bolt to race in Zurich Diamond League
Double Olympic sprint champion Usain Bolt will
race in the Zurich leg of the Diamond League on August 30,
organisers announced on Monday. Bolt, also the world record holder
over the 100 and 200m, kicked off his season on home soil last week,
winning the Jamaica International Invitational in a world-leading
9.82 seconds.

Pakistan’s Irish coach aims high
Pakistan's new rugby coach Justin Fitzpatrick
said Monday his players had the passion to rise quickly in the game
as the team prepares to take on arch-rivals India in a regional
competition. “I am new in the job,” Fitzpatrick told AFP on the
sidelines of a training session. “The boys are athletic and I hope
that the team will improve by leaps and bounds.” Rugby is a new
sport in Pakistan, which competes internationally at a regional
level. At the end of the month the team are off to Kuala Lumpur for
an Asian Division III event, kicking off their campaign against
India.
