Maithripala Sirisena emphasized that reorganization activities of the
Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) founded by former Prime Minister S W R D
Bandaranaike, has made the party more people -friendly under the strong
and proud leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. He said the Sri
Lanka Freedom Party possesses a glorious, splendid and proud history and
has been crowned as the party of the common man.
Minister Sirisena was speaking at the opening of the party's district
central office at Airport Road, Anuradhapura.
Following the religious observances and two minutes silence in
remembrance of the late party leaders and the war heroes, the name board
of the new party office was unveiled by Minister Sirisena.
“SLFP founder late Prime Minister S W R D Bandaranaike and other
leaders from time to time always launched all significant political
episodes of the from Anuradhapura, where the Sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi
is located,” he said.
“Present SLFP leader, President Mahinda Rajapaksa has advised us to
arrange the re-organisation campaign by going house to house
campaigning,thus, making the public educated about the endeavours being
made by the government to transform the country to the Miracle of Asia,”
Minister Sirisena emphasized.
North Central Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake said the re-organisation
campaign would not be confined only to enrol new members to the party.
Party stalwarts travelling from village to village would listen to
the ideas of grass root level voters, public servants etc and report it
to the party hierarchy for necessary action.
“There are certain sections which spread various interpretations
about the dissolution and the North Central Provincial Council
elections.
The United People's Freedom Alliance headed by the President is
poised to gain a landslide victory whenever elections are held. This has
been the norm over the past several years,” the Chief Minister
reiterated.
SLFP Treasurer Minister Dullas Alahapperuma and Minister Tissa
Karalliyadda also addressed the large crowd of party activists which
included Cabinet Ministers, Provincial Chief Ministers, Ministers,
Governors, divisional level political authority members and members of
the public. |
