Int'l HR Confab in June
The institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka Inc. will host the
International HR Conference 2012 on June 26 and 27 at the Waters Edge,
Battaramulla.
President of IPM Sri Lanka Air Vice Marshal (Retd.) Rohitha
Ranasinghe said that the theme of the Conference “The evolving new HR
agenda” has been aptly formulated taking into account the rapid
transformation of the HR discipline over the years. “People factor in
business is a predominant factor which cannot be undermined for whatever
reason,” he said.

The President thanked Sri Lanka Telecom PLC the National
Telecommunication Provider, the Strategic Partner for the Conference for
the fifth consecutive year for the longstanding relationship shared by
SLT and IPM Sri Lanka.
Ranasinghe added that the prestigious ‘IPM HR Gold Medal for the Most
Outstanding HR Professional of the Year’ will be awarded to a
personality who had made a significant contribution in the field of
human resource management and development in Sri Lanka. In addition five
category awards based on five key result areas of HR management
discipline and to the best PQHRM Professional of the year, too would be
awarded.
Ranasinghe said, "The mega event of the year, will be attended by
over 800 delegates. The cost to lost the event is Rs. 15 million. It is
not a profit making venture. It is purely to further establish and
recognize HR as a profession which makes a difference in the competitive
business environment. I wish to therefore thank all the partners and
sponsors as well for the joined effort that we put into pursue that
goal,” he added.

Chairman for the International HR Conference, Dhammika Fernando, the
Vice President of IPM Sri Lanka said that Horaciao Quiros, the President
World Federation of People Management Associations will be the guest of
honour and keynote speaker at the inaugural session. ‘His presence is
not only an encouragement to us it is an acceptance of the high quality
contribution by the IPM SL to the field of HRM in the country and the
region,' he said.
"Arrays of speakers both local and foreign are scheduled to make
presentations at the conference sharing in-depth knowledge to support
the new dimensions and align HRM with business strategies to bring
greater shareholder wealth,’ he said.
“Our endeavour is to raise the professional standard of HR
Practitioners and all others involved in the discipline of people
management. We aspire to taking HR to the forefront in the context of
