Isipatana have the edge over Kingswood
Isipatana College will go out favourites when they confront Kingswood
College, Kandy in their Singer Segment One Schools 'A' Division Rugby
match at Longden Place today.
Isipatana who were held to a 19-all draw by Vidyartha in their first
outing then went on to beat St Joseph's College by 29-18 in their next
match and will go all out to register their second win today by
overcoming the Kingswoodians.
Kingswood who began the season on a winning note by overcoming home
town rivals, St Anthony's College by 30-15, suffered a morale shattering
defeat in their next match against St Peter's by 5-65 and will have to
come up with an extraordinary display today if they hope to emerge
victorious.
The lads from Havelock town will once again depend on their speedy
three-quarters to deliver the goods. They have an experienced halves
combination in Kavindu Costa and Hirantha Perera while centres Shamal
Chathuranga, P M Hewage and winger Shenal Dias are penetrative runners
who are capable of piercing the Kingswood defence.
Up front the Isipatana Eight spearheaded by skipper Kumendra
Dharmadasa ably supported by Ushan Charuka, Ganuka Dissanayake, Manaka
Siriwardena, Malith Ranga, Shenal Deelaka and Number Eight Arun Kumar
should reign supreme in the loose.
The lads from Kandy are in the process of team building and will
strive to contain the Isipatanians with some resolute tackling.
