Navy nabs 11 for harvesting sea cucumber

The Navy arrested 11 persons harvesting sea cucumber illegally.

Sources said Naval personnel attached to SLNS Kanchadewa of the Northern Naval Command arrested the 11 men who were illegally harvesting sea cucumber at Melinchimunai on May 9.

Naval personnel of SLNS Kanchadewa had made the raid following a tip-off. The men were nabbed with 138 sea cucumber.

The Navy also found two FGDs, 15 under water torches, 10 pairs of diving fins and 14 goggles in the possession of the men.
