Atlas distributes Rs. 6 million worth exercise books among rural school children

Atlas, one of the largest stationery manufacturing companies in Sri Lanka, distributed exercise books worth of Rupees six million among underprivileged rural school children under ‘Sisu Diriya’, the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. This year under the ‘Atlas Sisu Diriya’, exercise books were distributed among 3000 school children in the Ampara and Batticaloa Districts. Atlas launched this ‘Atlas Sisu Diriya’ corporate social responsibility programme with the belief of enhancing the literacy rate in the country by providing with essential educational equipments.

This years’ donation of exercise books to the school children was held under the patronage of Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Mahanayake Thera the Mahanayaka Thera of the Malwathu Chapter. This event was organized with the support of Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Benevolent Foundation and the Department of Police in Ampara and Batticaloa. This occasion was graced by Ven. Divulkumbure Sri Vimaladharma Thera of the Malwathu Chapter.

Speaking about this donation of exercise books under the Atlas ‘Sisu Diriya’ CSR programme, Chief Executive Officer, Atlas, Nirmal Madanayake said, “Under this year’s ‘Atlas Sisu Diriya’, we thought of doing a service to the school children of the Ampara and Batticaloa Districts who had suffered from 30 years of war, whose education had suffered due to the minimum facilities they afforded during that period. We at Atlas believe that parents will be encouraged to send their children to school regularly through this programme”.

Atlas Limited, Chief Operations Officer/Director Nishantha Hennadige said, “As the foremost stationery manufacturing company in Sri Lanka in which the school children of Sri Lanka have placed the most trust in, one of our responsibilities is to help the underprivileged school children to obtain the best education to be eligible for a bright future.

We helped the education of the school children in underprivileged areas under the ‘Atlas Sisu Diriya’ CSR programme that is being enacted successfully every year with that primary intention. At this moment of time, I feel that the other school children spread all over Sri Lanka have also contributed for this good deed, because, we were able to do this service to the school children of the underprivileged areas due to their unfailing trust placed on us to make Atlas successful as a company.”
