Spot-fixing convict Asif due for release on May 5a

Pakistan's former paceman Mohammad Asif is expected to be released from a British prison on May 5 after completing half his one-year sentence for spot-fixing during the 2010 Lord's Test against England, a friend and cricket coach said Tuesday.

The postponed Singer Schools Rugby League Segment one match for the Father Basil Wiratunga Shield between St.Joseph's and St.Peter's will be played on May 4 (Friday) at St.Peter's Grounds Bambalapitiya.The match which was scheduled to be played on April 20 at the same venue had to be postponed due to a water-logged ground and lightning.

Sachin Tendulkar says cricket comes first

Batting superstar Sachin Tendulkar said Tuesday he was “honoured” to be nominated to India's parliament but stressed that cricket would remain his priority as long as he keeps playing.
