Ishan, Roshita junior carrom champions

Ishan Kannangara and Joseph Roshita won under 21 men's and women's junior carrom single titles in the 11th Junior National Carrom Championship which worked off at the Carrom Federation premises in Maharagama recently.

Ishan made it an easy straight set win over Harsha Kumara (25/21, 25/07) in the men's final while Roshita defeated Chalani Lakmali (25/0, 19/25, 25/20) in the women's single final.

Meanwhile the U-21 women's singles event included four top ranking players reaching semi final stage and Roshita bagged the title after tough contest.

Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) conducted the championship for men and women in age categories from under-13 to under-21. The tournament worked off on six days from March 24. Prizes of three tournaments were distributed at the award ceremony along with 24th Federation Cup and 44th Senior Nationals on April 8.

Under 13 girls singles final - Tharushi Himahansika (Mahamaya College, Kandy) beat Tharushika Chamodi (Samudradevi Balika Vidyalaya) - 25/23

Under 13 boys singles final - Senath Rajapakshe (Royal College, Colombo) beat Dakshina Alwis K.N. Amerasinghe (Mahanama College, Colombo) - 25/6

Under 15 girls singles final - Detuni Nomaya (Dharmapala, Pannipitiya) beta Suchini Shashikala (Mahamaya B.V) -25/10, 25/8

Under 15 boys singles final - W.M.Mufees (St. Sylvester's College, Kandy) beat Diluk Perera (Dharmapala, Pannipitiya) - 25/4, 25/4

Under 17 girls singles final - Rebecca Dalrene (All Saints, Borella) beta Akshana Perera (Vishaka Vidyalaya) - 25/18, 15/25, 25/19

Under 17 boys singles final - Manuka Ashen (Royal College, Colombo) beat Mohamed Shaheed (Royal College, Colombo) - 25/11, 25/10

Under 19 boys singles final - Udesh Chandima (St. John's College, Nugegoda) beat Puum Nisansala H.Prabath (Royal College, Colombo) - 25/23, 20/25, 25/20

Under 17 boys doubles final - Anas Ahamed with Mohomad Shaeed (Royal College, Colombo) beat Chadeepa Kaushalya and Gihan Chamara (St. John's College, Nugegoda) - 25/10,25/0

Under 17 girls doubles final - Pavani Yasodha. and Tharushi Himahansika (Samudradevi BV) beat Shalini Senadeera with Detuni Nomaya (Dharmapala, Pannipitiya) - 25/0,9/25, 25/22

Under 21 boys doubles final - Ishan Kannangara with Pamod Ashendra beat Udesh Chamdima and Sajith Isanka - 25/9, 25/16

Under 21 girls singles final - Joseph Roshita beat Chalani Lakmali - 25/0, 19/25, 25/20

Under 21 boys singles final - Ishan Kannangara beat Harsha Kumara - 25/21, 25/07
