LRDC cricketers off to Malaysia
The Land Reclamation and Development Corporation for the first time
in their 31 year old history will make a week's cricket tour to Malaysia
to play four limited overs games.
The team has been picked by a special panel of selectors on the
performance based on their 'A' and 'B' teams in the State Services
cricket tournament under the instructions of the Chairman Harshan de
Silva and Managing Director Mrs. Srimathi Senadeera.
The team comprises some talented players while at school and some
club players.
The team is led by former Maliyadeva College all -rounder Upali
Senaratne and his deputy will be former Cambrian and Saracens cricketer
Nishantha Peiris. The team will leave tomorrow.
The tour squad will include Upali Senaratne (Captain), Nishantha
Peiris (V.Captain), P.M.D.Peiris, J.Sunil Perera, A.D.Piyal Nishantha,
D.Janaka Shaminda, S.Sujith Kumara, W.Wasantha Kumara, A.R.Lasantha,
W.A.C.Upashantha, M.R.P.Chinthana, G.Asanka Indika, J.M.Azeez,
N.H.Gayathrika, P.Nuwan Kithsiri, W.D.Vithanarachchie,
W.M.Wickremasinghe and K.D. Piyatissa.
Former St.Anne's College cricketer Elroy Fernando will be the team
