Moratu Vidyalaya promoted to division one

Moratu Vidyalaya who were relegated to division two of under 19
schools cricket last season, bounced back in one year to get promoted to
division one and they will take part in division one tournament in the
forthcoming under 19 cricket season.
Vidyalian star allrounder Sanka Ramesh who claimed 103 wickets each
in two successive years and second schoolboy to achieve this very rare
feat after Sebastian Nimesh Perera led them to a 50 run first innings
win against St Thomas College, Matale, playing his final game for his
alma mater in the elevation cricket match to division one.
Resuming at 188 for 8 Vidyalians were all out with Thilan Kavishka
scoring 79 runs and L D Madushanka had a superb spell of 7 for 50 for
the homesters. In their second essay, Matale Thomians did much better to
declare at 184 for 9 with S M Thilakasiri scoring 54 runs and ably
supported by S M Wijetunga with 36 runs.
Set to make 135 runs for an outright victory and at the close
Vidyalians were 56 for 2 with Thilan Kanishka unbeaten on 36 runs.
