Four Renown Sports Club players suspended

The Football Federation of Sri Lanka announced that four soccer
players of Renown Sports Club have been suspended from football and
football management for a period of two years with effect from February
26, 2012 to February 25 ,2014 while their secretary has been given a one
year ban by the Competition Committee of Football Federation of Sri
Lanka for misconduct.
They have been suspended for their direct involvement in assaulting
the Referee Priyanga Namal during the Champions League match played on
the February 26,2012 at Kelaniya Football Complex.
Accordingly Renown SC players M.I.Mahamd Zain ,M.N. Mohamed Nafeer ,C.M.Mohamed
Rizni,A. Fazlur Rahuman will be away from the field for another 22
months. The Committee also suspended the secretary of the Club Royston
Fernando for one year with effect from February 26 ,2012 to February
25,2013 . The FFSL further said that the secretary of the home team
Renown , he had failed in his duties to prevent such situations and also
had turned a blind eye at all incidents that took place to tarnish the
image of the game at the said encounter.
He was also found guilty for making baseless allegations at FFSL
officials to mislead the inquiry proceedings.
The competition committee of the Football Federation which inqured
the incident includes, Rtd. Sinr. DIG K.P.Pathirana [Chairman -
Competition Committee],Rear Admiral Ananda Pieris [Monitoring Vice
President - FFSL] ,Rtd. DIG Upali Hewage [Secretary General -FFSL],
Hurley Silveira [Deputy Chairman-Competition Committee] Major S.
Pathmanathan, Rohitha Fernando, M.Rizvan and Jayasinghe Mendis. |
