Two nabbed for distilling Kasippu during New Year season

Two men suspected of manufacturing Kasippu during the New Year season were arrested by the Special Task Force (STF), Horana during raids at Poruwedanda and Ilimba.

The STF also seized 56,250 millilitres of illicit liquor during the April 19 raids.

One suspect aged 30 was arrested with 22,500 millilitres of illicit liquor in Poruwedanda, Horakatiya Watta. The liquor was hidden in his house.

The other suspect arrested at Ilimba, Horana area had 33,750 millilitres of illicit liquor in his house. The suspect aged 27 had been produced before court several times for manufacturing kasippu.

The men were handed over to Horana Police. The raids were carried out by IP Tushara de Silva, Sub Inspector H M D Silva and STF personnel from the Horana camp.
