Sri Lanka is on the road to development following the war victory.
Certain Opposition politicians and leaders who held power in the past
are trying to hamper the development and destroy the country's image in
the international community, by making statements against the
government, Sri Lanka Freedom Party General Secretary and Health
Minister Maithripala Sirisena said.
The minister was addressing a special press briefing at the Mahaweli
Centre yesterday.
“This is a very crucial time for Sri Lanka when all should support
the government to overcome international challenges. Some politicians
made several statements before the international community even during
the war and betrayed the motherland,” he said.
“We request these politicians to observe the support given by
Opposition parties in other countries and stand by the government to
help achieve its targets and defeat the false allegations made by
certain foreign elements. We request Opposition political parties to
give a thought to the country and its people,” the minister said.
“Sri Lanka has a proud history and a great degree of self-
confidence. All sections therefore have a responsibility to protect the
motherland from international allegations and conspiracies,” he said. |
