The Sri Lanka Navy assisted a salvage team of India to save an Indian fishing trawler bearing registration number TN/10/MFB/604 in the seas off Iranatheevu.

The assistance was rendered on humanitarian grounds in response to a request made by the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka.

The Indian salvage team consisting four fishing trawlers and 22 crew members escorted by Indian Coast Guard Ship Rajshree was received by naval vessel Ranawickrama with the assistance of Inshore Patrol Craft P 175 and P 148 at the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) off Thalaimannar, recently.

The Indian salvage team was guided to the salvage location for the commencement of salvage operation under Sri Lanka Navy supervision.

Facilitation was also provided for their return journey along with the salvaged trawler upon completion of the task on April 17.
